got FINGERS?

When I first began knitting I didn't know how to use needles.  To be honest, I still only know two stitches!

I like to collect different colors too!

I like to collect different colors too!

I was blessed with finding a large selection of yarn in a thrift store approx 15 years ago. Since then I have developed my talents in color blending yarns.

Alone color can be so different than when blended together.  Swirling in my fingers I use a simple braiding stitch to make a chain.  With chains combined a scarf can be formed.

Over the past few years I have made more than 100 scarves!   I have also been blessed wil more and more yarn!!

The Building of an Open House

Knock Knock

Showing your artwork is a stressful event.  As an artist, opening up your studio multiples the anxiety by ten

When I first started going to markets I would be on the lookout for things to make that people would buy.  Simple right?? Supply and demand.  The problems that arise are also simple.  Am I a product or an artist?

I make things and sell them.  I am both an artist and a business woman. I love the combination of both sides of the brain.

Day of open house

Day of open house

The truth is I love selling as much as making.  Interacting with people and telling my story never gets old.  Actually, the longer I practice my art the more enjoyable it gets

What is your art form?? Painting, sewing or knitting?

how about accounting, cashier or mother of three?  Everyday life is art.

When I open my house to the public I open my heart

Welcome

The Gift of Color

A stash of yarn donated to Seven Threads!!!

image.jpg

I have been lucky in my art endeavours once again!  A donation of yarn left on my step.

I spent the evening sorting and hugging the beautiful new friends that came to live with me!!!!

So happy to upcycle and blend all the colors into new designs!!!

Blue Yarn Strikes Again

Whenever I reach into the heaps of yarn I have stashed in the studio, out comes blue.

image.jpg

This time it was three blends of fuzzy teal, pink and greens.  With a size 19 needle and a simple knit stitch, I made this lovely soft infinity scarf.

image.jpg

I know only two stitches. The knit stitch and a drop stitch.  By blending my own colors, I make the design unique.

Huge and cozy!!!

Blend, Twist & Swirl

Mixing colors is a passion of mine.  Weather it be paint, beads or yarn, putting contrasting and complimentary colors together always serves to please me

With yarn, simple colors get a boost when twisted and blended together.

Digging deep to the bottom of the stash to pull out bits of yellow and purple lead to this new scarf color combo.

Cozy and cute!!!!

When only scraps will do

There are so many small bits of yarn in my stash, I search constantly for ways to use them.

This scarf is a simple knit stitch with a row of drop stitching in between the changes of colored yarns and strings

image.jpg

My fave thing to do is blend the colors together and knit with 3--5 strands at a time.    I used 10 mm needles to give a loose and casual look to the final piece

I think the design is simple, beautiful and dead one of a kind!

.......so many ideas!!!!

Now I never have to toss any yarn cause it's "to small to do anything with"!!!!

Lets knit

Hello beautiful

image.jpg

This year I learned to knit...with needles. I have been finger knitting and arm knitting for years so I challenged myself to learn the more traditional method.

Using two long paintbrushes for needles, I watched videos online and practiced casting on and doing a simple knit stitch.

The first few samples didn't look like much but I quickly got the hang of it.
